MTVarts is honored to be producing the world premiere of award-winning author Daniel Mark Epstein’s newest work “Somerset Tavern: A Comedy.”  The play will take place May 2 – 11 at the historic Woodward Opera House in Mount Vernon and be under the direction of Kenyon Associate Professor of Drama and Film Benjamin Viccellio.

The cast will feature:

Shauna Marie Davis as BRIDGET BRIGHTON- A charming woman, daughter of a white innkeeper and a black bondswoman from Barbados. She has inherited the Somerset Tavern from her late father.

Steve Herbst as AUBREY DRAW- A weathered but still handsome Justice of the Peace, a veteran of the Indian Wars. He limps from an arrow wound.

Jake McAskill as EDGAR WEATHERVANE- A gentleman pre-possessing in his looks and manners, a lawyer, poet and aspiring politician in the provincial government. He comes from a family of wealthy planters and was educated in England.

Stephen Stone as ROLAND BANNISTER- An English playwright and theater manager. As a young actor he worked for Shakespeare, playing female roles, and came to America after Cromwell shut down the theaters.

Courtney DeCosky as MORGAN NIGHTINGALE- An actor in Sir Roland’s company.
