CLASS: Theatre of D&D

DESCRIPTION:
Explore the basics of how to approach character and storytelling through the hit tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. This class will focus on the joy of theatre as well as the tabletop game experience. We welcome both beginners and veterans to the theatre and D&D experience! Monday-Friday (5:45-7:45), November 4th-November 8th. Ages 12-18.
CLASS: Acting I: Monologue

DESCRIPTION:
This course will focus on the approach to working with text via monologues and how to analyze and break them down prior to performance. Actors should come prepared with a monologue that is between 1-2 minutes in length. This class will employ the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique which focuses on using the mind, voice, and body as the “instrument” in the rehearsal and performance process. Ages 12-18. Class will meet for 1 hour and 15 minutes Monday-Friday from 6:45-8:00 PM, September 30-october 4th.

CLASS: Adult Acting

DESCRIPTION:
This course will be a hands-on approach to the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique. Students should come prepared to move and walk around the space as their bodies allow them. Students will be given a minimal amount of lines on the first day of class that they will be using throughout the course. Actors should enter into the space with a positive attitude and a willingness to share their art. Ages 18+. Class will meet for 1.5 hours Monday-Friday from 6-7:30 PM, October 28th-November 1st.

CLASS: Theatre Basics (Preschool)

This class will introduce preschool age students to the joy of theatre with games, songs, and playful activities to improve confidence, collaboration, and comfort on stage. Ages 3-6. Class will meet from 9-9:45am on Saturdays for four weeks: Nov. 2nd, Nov. 9th, Nov. 16th, and Nov. 23rd.

CLASS: Advanced Vocal Technique

DESCRIPTION:
Looking to improve your vocal technique? In this course, we will cover vocal techniques that are used for different styles of singing in theatre. Overall, each student will learn the basics of healthy singing, the anatomy of the voice, and the differences in vocal styles. Throughout the course we will cover a range of different music samples from musical theatre, and students will be expected to sing and learn a variety of music. This course is designed for high school students as it covers more advanced vocal content. Ages 14-18 – This class will meet Mondays from 6:00-5:00 as well as Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5:00-6:30: Sep. 30th, Oct. 2nd, Oct 3rd, Oct. 7th, Oct. 9th, Oct. 10th, Oct. 14th, Oct. 16th, and Oct. 17th. The final day will be an invited showcase for students to show what they have learned if possible.

CLASS: “Acting Up”

DESCRIPTION:
ACTING UP is for students interested in learning the basic tools of acting and using their imaginations. Students will explore and demonstrate the 5 tools of the actor – body, voice, concentration, cooperation and imagination – through theatre games and activities. We have created the perfect environment for students who are looking to make new friends, move their bodies, and make some noise! Join us at the end of the session for the student-driven informal performance where the students will imagine and execute their own story to perform.
Class will take place Monday-Thursday from 4:00-5:00pm for one week. The final Friday, will be a showcase with actors arriving at 4pm and parents/guests at 5pm. Ages 7-11. November 11th-November 15th. November 15th will meet from 4:00-6:00 to accommodate a potential showcase.

CLASS: Set Design

DESCRIPTION:
This course will focus on the creative process behind set design and creation from the creative mind to the stage. Students will learn the process of designing scenery for a particular play and put it to action on a smaller scale. Ages 12-18. Classes will be 1 hour Monday-Friday from 4:30-5:30pm. November 4th-November 8th.

CLASS: DIY Masquerade

DESCRIPTION:
Fun times in the Costume Shop! We’ll cover the design process of a costumer for a show, as well as making our own costumes from base costumes. All base costumes, materials and machinery provided (but you’re welcome to bring your own “extras”). Great opportunity for a budding costumer to try their hand, and as a bonus, this program finishes just in time to make your own Halloween costume. Ages 11-18. Class will meet on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. leading up to Halloween. Oct. 5th, Oct. 12th, and Oct. 19th.
