Footloose the Musical 

Consider joining us in July on the stage of the historical Woodward Opera House. Anyone 16 years of age and older is invited to audition. Those interested in submitting a video audition prior to April 6, should contact prodmanager @MTVarts.com.

All auditions are to be done with piano accompaniment. Please come prepared, preferably with your song memorized. Bring the sheet music for the pianist. Written music for audition songs is available upon request.  Email prodmanager@MTVarts.com

Character Descriptions and Initial Audition Songs for Footloose 

Ren –High Tenor, D3 –C5 – (Lead): Male, 16-25. Energetic, emotional, rebellious, likeable; emotes his pain through quirky sarcasm and dance; strong dancer.
I Can’t Stand Still measures, 7–56 

Chuck – High Tenor, F#3–B4 – (Supporting): Male, 16-25. The local bad boy and Ariel’s boyfriend.
The Girl Gets Around, measures 47-50 

Rusty – Soprano or mezzo, F3-F#5 – (Supporting): Female, 16-25. Great soprano/pop voice. Ariel’s friend; a bit scatterbrained, sweet, fun, knows everything about everything; role requires strong belt, strong comedic timing and dance.
Let’s Hear It for the Boy, measures 52-105 

Ariel – Mezzo, F3-F#4 – (Lead): Female, 16-25. Smart, a bit of the bad girl with an edge, sweet, the rebellious minister’s daughter; role requires strong belt, must be a strong singer/dancer.
Holding Out for a Hero, measures 73-110 

Shaw – Baritone, A2-F#4 – (Lead) Male, 35-55. The powerful, traditional local church leader; strict, stern, and solemn, still struggling with the death of his son.
Heaven Help Me 

Willard – High tenor, Bb2-Ab4 – Hewitt (Supporting): Male, 16-25. A simple country bumpkin with a warm heart and a big smile; comedic timing, and dance a must.

Rusty will sing soprano I, Urleen will sing soprano II, and Wendy Jo will sing alto when they sing in three parts. 

Jeter will sing tenor I, Bickle will sing tenor II, and Garvin will sing baritone when they sing in three parts. 

Chuck will sing tenor I, Travis will sing tenor II, Lyle will sing baritone when they sing in three parts.
