MINI WORKSHOP - Let's Pretend: Make Your Own Play

INSTRUCTOR - Bruce Jacklin

DATES -  9/18 through 9/28

TIME - Mondays through Thursday at 4:00pm

AGES - 7 -10

DESCRIPTION:

Learn some of the basics of acting through theatre games, improvisation exercises, and scene work with scripts. Students develop their creativity as they practice performance skills such as active listening, creating characters, and connecting with scene partners so, by the end, they can put on a small play! No experience is necessary.

 

CLASS - Acting - Monologue

INSTRUCTORS - Christopher Hartman

DATES -  9/18 through 11/18

TIME - Mondays at 5:30pm

AGES - 11 and up

DESCRIPTION:

This course will focus on the approach to working with text via monologues and how to analyze and break them down prior to performance. Actors should come prepared with a monologue that is between 1-2 minutes in length. This class will employ the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique which focuses on using the mind, voice, and body as the "instrument" in the rehearsal and performance process.

 

CLASS - Acting Scene Studies

INSTRUCTORS - Courtney DeCosky

DATES -  9/18 through 11/18

TIME - Tuesdays at 5:30pm

AGES - 11 and up

DESCRIPTION:

By engaging in group exercises, improvisation, and scene study, actors will develop their imagination, discipline, and confidence to produce character-driven performances. Through repetition, coaching, and direction, students learn the craft of acting by living truthfully under imaginary circumstances.

 

CLASS - Acting The Singing Actor

INSTRUCTORS - Kylie Stadler and Christopher Hartman

DATES -  9/18 through 11/18

TIME - Thursdays at 6:30pm

AGES - 11 and up

DESCRIPTION:

This class will focus on vocal technique, musical expression, and emotional expression. We will cover proper vocal technique, addressing tension in the voice and body, and how to select a song for your vocal range. This course will work with musical theatre solo pieces and how to break them down and analyze them prior to performance. DESCRIPTION:

This course will focus on developing listening skills with a heavy emphasis on imagination and creativity to aid students in devising scenes that have no script. Students will also learn how to effectively communicate with one another in order to create a strong ensemble.

 

CLASS - DIY Masquerade

INSTRUCTORS -Leah Miller and Mary Harris

DATES -  9/18 through 10/28

TIME - Saturdays at 10am

AGES - 11 and up

DESCRIPTION:

Fun times in the Costume Shop! We'll cover the design process of a costumer for a show, as well as making our own costumes from base costumes. All base costumes, materials and machinery provided (but you're welcome to bring your own "extras"). Great opportunity for a budding costumer to try their hand, and as a bonus, this program finishes just in time to make your own Halloween costume.

This class introduces our youngest actors to the theatre with games, songs, and activities to improve confidence, collaboration, and comfort on stage.

 

CLASS - Let's Act: Theatre for Early Elementary

TIME - Saturdays at 10:00am

AGES - 3 to 6

A class for students looking to develop their acting skills. This class will focus more in depth on acting technique through acting exercises, ensemble work, monologues, and scene work. Students will use self-exploration to expand their performance ranges and take on more challenging roles with confidence.
